Mukul M.Sharma is a professor and holds the W.A “TEX” Moncrieff, Jr. Centennial Chair in the Hildebrand Department of Petroleum and Geosystems engineering at the University of Texas at Austin.

BACKGROUND

Mukul M. Sharma was born on 1949 or 1950. His birth place was Varanasi, India. This honored man died on March 1 2019 at the age of 69. His nationality was Indian. His occupation was science, story writer, journalist and polymath (which means a person of wide knowledge or learning).

EDUCATION

This famous personality had received B.Tech from the Indian Institute of technology Kanpur (1980), and then M.Sc and Ph.D. degrees from University of southern California in 1981 and 1985 respectively. He was one of the bright student in his time. Dr Mukul Sharma has been on the faculty at the University of Texas for the past 34 years and served as Chairman of the Department from 2001 to 2005.

CURRENT RESEARCH INTEREST

His current research interest include hydraulic fracturing, oilfield water management, formation damage and improved oil recovery. CAREER

His career was mainly related to science and technology. He had been very successful in his interest. He had received many awards and honors from different agencies and services.  Among his many awards and appreciation, Dr. Mukul Sharma is a member of the US national academy of engineering. He is the recipient of the 2017 John Franklin Carll Award and the 2009 Lucas Gold Medal, SPEs highest technical awards. He has also received the 2004 SPE Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award, the 2020 Lester C.Yren Award and the 1988 SPE formation Evaluation award. He served as an SPE distinguished lecturer in 2002, has served on the Editorial boards of many journals, and taught and consulted for industry worldwide.

Beyond his academic, Dr.Mukul M.Sharma has founded Austin Geotech services, and E&P consulting company in 1996. He also cofounded lay line petroleum in 2006 (which had very successful exit in 2013) and Navidad energy in 2017.
