Farkhunda Zahra Naderi commenced her primary and secondary education in Kabul and Baghlan provinces, and completed her baccalaureate in 2001 at SH High School in Harrow, London UK. In 2007, Naderi graduated from Bachelor of Arts in Legal Studies from Westminster International University in Tashkent.
Miss Farkhunda Zahra Naderi has been selected as a Young Global Leader 2016 (YGL2016) by the World Economic Forum in March 2016.
Naderi was nominated by UNDP for N-Peace Award in 2012 where she won the award on behalf of Afghanistan.
Farkhunda Zahra Naderi in March 26th of 2013 for the first time by means of election won a seat for Afghanistan in one of the Three Standing Committees: The Third Standing Committee which is the Democracy and Human Rights Committee in IPU. In March 2014 she was elected as the President of the mentioned committee.
However, by investing and dedicating most of her efforts in this field, Naderi succeeded to break the taboo and raise voice in the parliament and work with various groups from civil society to political groups from national to international level, in order to fulfill that promise. Eventually, a woman for the first time in the history of Afghanistan was introduced in the Supreme Court by President Ghani in NUG whom promised during his campaign time to nominate a woman in the Supreme Court of Afghanistan.
Farkhunda Zahra Naderi is a former MP (2010 to Jun 2015).She represented Kabul Province in the Lower House of Afghan Parliament. During these five years Farkhunda Zahra Naderi worked in three different Commissions of Parliament including Commission on Women’s Affairs, Human rights and Civil Society.
While Naderi was at university, as a student she invested her academic time on the study of women’s role within Afghan power and through her legal study and research she was convinced that the absence of Afghan women in the Supreme Court is the real challenge for the symbolic presence of women in the Afghan politics.
Therefore, during her parliamentary campaign, Naderi promised to lobby and fight for women’s participation in the Supreme Court of Afghanistan. It was happening at the time where such a discussion and debate was regarded to be unacceptable and taboo within Afghan various communities including politics.
